Lexy is a very beautiful and very smart 3 year old German Shepherd who will be a devoted and loving companion for a shepherd-experienced home. She does require a confident owner and proper introductions to new people. Lexy is housebroken, knows her basic commands and behaves herself alone at home or in the yard; she is highly motivated by praise from her handler/human. When it's time for an outing at the rescue she can be a bit unsure and shy but, with a little reassurance, she takes her place beside you and walks well on a leash next to a group of other dogs, whom she mostly ignores. Off leash in the play yard she is hesitant at first and is careful to avoid any problems. She is more likely to go to the people in the yard rather than the dogs. Lexy is so loyal that, once she is comfortable, she becomes your shadow. She is cautious by nature and history, and needs to be given time and patience to find her confidence and her place -- and that place will be as close to you as possible if you can offer her structure, guidance and love.
